How To Get Your Anxiety Under Control... Even If Your Job Totally Sucks!

In the meantime… Let me tell you about Tara...

Tara’s story broke my heart.

she had been dealing with a cycle of sleeplessness, poor eating habits, and anxiety for over ten years!

As a teacher at a private school, she had started with enthusiasm, then buckled under the weight of all that was required of her.

There was just so much!

Of course she had to prepare lessons, grade assignments, and be there for her students, as expected.

But then she also had to satisfy the many demands of her superiors, beyond anything she could have expected. And that wasn’t all; some parents would routinely show up to talk to her without an appointment, completely throwing her schedule off course.

She felt like there just weren’t enough hours in the day and, with so much to do, she was slipping further and further behind. She started to work late into the night to get as much done as possible.

Tara Loved

Tara loved the students and teaching itself, but all the extra demands on her time, energy, and emotions were taking a huge toll on her.

On top of all of that, there was another teacher who was making her life even more chaotic and miserable.

She discovered that the woman was speaking badly about her to their colleagues, and even to the students. She didn’t know what this woman had against her, and couldn’t understand why she was tearing her down when Tara so desperately wished that they could support and help each other.

The pressure on her was unbearable!

Home was not the relief it should have been; Tara couldn’t ever let her guard down, always worrying that she should be doing more, doing it better, and doing it faster.

She was in constant crisis mode and her relationships with her husband and two children were suffering. Though she desperately wanted to make more time for them, the clock was always ticking in the back of her mind like a bombabout to go off. She was extremely distracted and touchy when she did carve out time for her family, and it made her, and them, miserable.

Because Tara was terrified she would sleep through her alarm she would stay awake, exhausted, watching the clock… all night long. She couldn’t risk being late because, if she got behind, her schedule was too tight to recover.

There were a lot of changes going on at the school, with a new principal, new rules, and even a new location. She had to pack up her classroom and everything the previous teachers of 30 years had left behind and figure out a place for it all in the new building.

There was no room for error… she just had to be there, taking care of things at the right time… or else.

She became friends with two other teachers, who could relate to the pressures she struggled with. She found some relief in commiserating with them, and sharing ideas about how to handle the stress. But within a year, one retired and the other quit.

All alone…

Tara felt like a tidal wave had just rushed in. She was under water, unable to breathe, spinning wildly…

With her life so out of control,

Tara developed a sleep disorder that intensified her already overwhelming feelings of anxiety. These issues were in a vicious circle, stoking each other higher: anxiety… sleeplessness… exhaustion… anxiety… on and on. She was always in crisis mode.

She constantly felt like she was at the top of a roller coaster at the beginning of the drop, but the dropping feeling went on and on.

The stress was unrelenting, and she felt that she could never get on top of things.

As a result, she fell into a pattern of panic attacks, stress-related migraines, and over-reacting to situations and things people would say, afraid that there was always an agenda hidden behind any comment.

This went on for over 10 years!

Tara’s life was a living nightmare.

As she looked back, she could see where her  problems had started, but she couldn’t see where or how they would ever end.

She knew she needed help if anything was going to change…

And this is when Tara found me online.

My work with you has given me the insight, courage, and determination to make a job change. When colleagues questioned my dramatic decision to give up my position, I had no doubts that I was doing what was best for me. Hypnotherapy was the tool I needed to finally start creating a happier life for myself and my family. Thank you for being someone who really listens and who has made a difference in my life at this time!

I went immediately from my first session with Janece to a meeting where two people commented that I seemed to have a different energy about me and that I looked more relaxed and happy. That night was literally the first deep rest I’d had in months, actually sleeping all the way through the night.

Now, back to Tara…

Because of our work together, Tara was able to handle the stressors at work more effectively.  She used the tools I gave her to maintain a sense of calm and control.

She had the confidence to kindly ask parents to schedule an appointment with her during the time she allotted for that, instead of showing up unannounced.

And she even had the courage to approach the teacher who had been bad-mouthing her to talk things out! Although they didn’t become buddies, the gossip about her stopped.

Tara looks forward to going to bed now because she sleeps more peacefully through the night and wakes up refreshed.  She came to trust that she can now wake up on time with or without her alarm.

And better nights mean better days.

Tara recognized that even though she felt more calm and in control she just wasn’t happy teaching at that school so, by the end of the semester, she had given her notice. She found a teaching position at a public school closer to her home, and has found new joy working there, teaching and connecting with the students.

Tara’s whole life changed for the better. She made honest assessments and decisions for herself, and she stopped letting fear keep her from doing what was best for herself and her family.

She is more enthusiastic about making plans and enjoys accomplishing them.  And, best of all, she is able to be more fully present with her husband and children now, and her relationships are better than ever.

Tara says:

“It’s strange to look back and see how out of control everything was, and that I thought it was normal! Thanks to you, I found the courage to make the right changes for myself and my family.  I feel a lot calmer now. And whenever I do feel any anxiety coming on I still use the tools you taught me to get me back to my happy place. Thank you for all of your help in turning my life around!”
