In the meantime… Let me tell you about Marti…
When I heard Marti’s story, it broke my heart.
Marti did not have a very harmonious childhood. Her older brother and sister had been emotionally and verbally abusive toward her for as long as she could remember.
They frequently told her that she was stupid and that no one cared what she had to say and, to make it worse, they would yell this at her in front of others.
Sometimes the other people would laugh and she would want to run and hide.
It really hurt.
Marti felt very insecure and anxious.
From an early age she tried to avoid saying anything that would cause her older siblings to lash out at her or embarrass her, but it seemed like no matter what she said she got the same treatment.
At other times, when she would say something… they would completely ignore her, acting as if she wasn’t there, which was painful in it’s own way.
Becoming less and less sure of herself, she just stopped saying much at all anymore.
As she got older, even when her siblings weren’t around, she would constantly overthink what she might say to people, and worry about the response she would get.
She started to judge herself before the words even came out, and she would shut her lips tight together and choke them back.
This inner turmoil took a heavy toll on her confidence.
At first, it was mostly her own siblings who made her feel unsafe.
But they had made her doubt herself so much that she began to feel the same anxiety around other people – especially strangers.
She felt huge pressure to not make a fool of herself.
To not be judged and laughed at.
Although she really wanted to be around people, she felt sickening social anxiety several times a day… at home, at school, at work… pretty much everywhere. Her body would freak out on her, in groups, or when meeting new people.
She would start to shake as if she was freezing cold.
Her hands would become sweaty.
Hear heart would thump wildly in her chest.
She could sometimes even hear the blood rushing in her ears, which made it hard to hear what was being said to her.
When friends introduced her to their other friends, she’d get so nervous that her mind would go blank, and a nervous laugh would bubble out.
She was constantly afraid of making a fool of herself or being rejected because she wasn’t cool enough.
Unsurprisingly, even when others would talk to her, she had a hard time coming up with something to say at all.
On an unconscious level, she was automatically responding as if her brother and sister were there yelling at her and embarrassing her
This made going out in public and meeting new people like a living hell.
Her group of friends became very limited because she kept canceling on them, so they stopped asking her to do things.
As she got older, in order to keep the feelings of anxiety from attacking her, Marti started to stay in her apartment as much as possible.
But there were things she couldn’t avoid – like grocery shopping. And even this felt scary.
She felt like her life was getting smaller and smaller, and that it was going to disappear completely.
She needed help.
And this is when Marti found me online.
But more about this in a minute…
Maybe you suffer from similar things…
- You were told by your siblings or parents that you were stupid, not good enough, or useless – and now, this deeply rooted belief is sabotaging you in your adult life.
- You feel physical symptoms of anxiety like shaking hands, sweating, pounding pulse, nausea, trouble breathing or speaking… when around strangers
- You hate going out in public because you feel like everyone is staring at you
- You’re worried all the time that others are judging you
- You’re lonely, but you feel like you don’t know how to act “normal” around others
- Your avoidance of public places is putting huge limitations on your life

Now, back to Marti…
Marti loved the experience of hypnosis. She felt peaceful and happy during the sessions and, afterward, she’d always say, “That was awesome!” with a big smile on her face.
She can get her anxiety under control now, long before it has a chance to run away with her.
She’s had some huge “ahas” about her direction in life now that her fears no longer dictate what she can and can’t do. She’s been getting out of her house and talking to people more, and finding that it’s nowhere near as scary or hard as it used to be.
In fact, her experience with me was so life-changing that she wants to help others break free from their anxiety too; she has gone back to school to become a hypnotherapist herself!
